Micah White is a former editor of the Adbusters magazine and co-created the international meme Occupy Wall Street, which called for protests of social and economic inequality. Influenced by philosophy, history, the practice of culture jamming, and technological innovations, White inspires seemingly minor contributors to harness the power of information systems and participate in the creation and control of culture. White’s lecture will critically evaluate Occupy Wall Street and explore the ways visual culture plays an important role in social change. Overall there is urgency and optimism in his call for the creative reimagination of the world.
Micah's public lecture on The Future of Protest will be on November 7 at 7pm.
The VASD lectures are free and open to the public but require a RSVP.
